The Blessed Life, part 4
Mark 16:19 (ESV)
19 So then the Lord Jesus, (A)after he had spoken to them, (B)was taken up into heaven and (C)sat down at the right hand of God.
John 14:15-17 (ESV)
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 (A)“If you love me, you will (B)keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another (C)Helper,[a] to be with you forever, 17 even (D)the Spirit of truth, (E)whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and (F)will be[b] in you.
Matthew 16:7-10 (ESV)
7 And they began discussing it among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.” 8 But (A)Jesus, aware of this, said, (B)“O you of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? 9 (C)Do you not yet perceive? Do you not remember (D)the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? 10 Or (E)the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you gathered?
What does the Holy Spirit Do?
1. The gifts of the Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (ESV)
7 (A)To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of (B)wisdom, and to another the utterance of (C)knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another (D)faith by the same Spirit, to another (E)gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another (F)the working of miracles, to another (G)prophecy, to another (H)the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another (I)various kinds of tongues, to another (J)the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, (K)who apportions to each one individually (L)as he wills.
2. The fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22-24 (ESV)
22 But (A)the fruit of the Spirit is (B)love, joy, peace, patience, (C)kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 (D)gentleness, (E)self-control; (F)against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus (G)have crucified the flesh with its (H)passions and desires.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)
4 (A)Love is patient and (B)kind; love (C)does not envy or boast; it (D)is not arrogant 5 or rude. It (E)does not insist on its own way; it (F)is not irritable or resentful;[a] 6 it (G)does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but (H)rejoices with the truth. 7 (I)Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, (J)endures all things.
1 Corinthians 16:24 (ESV)
24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
Philippians 4:7 (ESV)
7 And (A)the peace of God, (B)which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
